Women’s Golf Resumes Spring at Central District

PARRISH, Fla. – The 12th-ranked LSU women’s golf team opens its spring season Monday with the first two rounds of the Central District Invitational hosted by Michigan State at the River Wilderness Golf Course.

Joining the Lady Tigers in the event along with the hosts are Purdue, Notre Dame, Kent State, Arkansas, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, Texas, Texas A&M, South Carolina, TCU, Missouri and Northwestern.

The Lady Tigers were second in the tournament a year ago, three strokes behind winner Auburn. LSU posted rounds of 292-297-296 for an 885, 54-hole total. Junior Megan McChrystal was the individual winner a year ago with a three-under 213 total with rounds of 71-74-68.

“We are ready to get it going again,” said LSU Coach Karen Bahnsen. “We will use these events to prepare us for the post-season and continue to improve with each event.  We’ve had success here in the past and like the golf course. We would like to get off to that kind of start again.”

Joining McChrystal in the lineup are Tessa Teachman, Jacqueline Hedwall, Lindy LaBauve and Abby Oberthier

Mary Michael Maggio and Amalie Valle, both averaging 75 for the Lady Tigers, are out of this event with Maggio still recovering from between semester surgery and Valle out with an illness. McChrystal averaged 73 in the fall and Teachman will be making her second tournament start of the year.

The teams will play 36 holes on Monday with the final round set for Tuesday. Live scoring can be found on LSUsports.net through Golfstat.com.
