BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team looks to rebound after a tough loss at Ohio State as it takes on Florida State Sunday at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Fla. First serve is slated for 10 a.m. CST.
“We’re excited to have an opportunity to play Florida State. This will be a very tough match,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “Hopefully we can go to Tallahassee and pull off an upset.”
Against Ohio State, Lady Tigers Nicole Kantor and Kaitlin Burns scored the only points of the match as they both captured their singles matches. Whitney Wolf and Keri Frankenberger made another impressive showing in doubles as they claimed their match and improved their record to 5-1 on the season.
LSU (2-4) highlights freshman Burns who rides on a five-match win streak. The Wilmington, N.C., native is 4-0 in the No. 4 slot and 1-0 at the No. 3 position.
Fourteenth-ranked Florida State (4-4) is led by No. 44 Lauren McCreless, No. 49 Noemie Scharle and No. 64 Katie Rybakova. FSU is fresh off of an upset over No. 10 Tennessee at the ITA National Indoor Championships.
The Seminoles lead the all-time series over LSU, 8-6. The teams’ last contest resulted in the ‘Noles taking a 5-2 decision in Baton Rouge.
