CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The 35th-ranked LSU men’s tennis team will take on top-ranked Virginia in a noon CST matchup Saturday at the Boyd Tinsley Courts.
The meeting is the first between the two teams. LSU looks to bounce back against the Cavaliers after a 0-3 start in dual competition. Leading the Tigers in singles competition is 50th-ranked Neal Skupski with an overall 10-8 record followed by team co-captain junior Sebastian Carlsson with a 10-7 record.
Virginia holds an 8-1 record with their only loss coming from Southeastern Conference heavyweight Kentucky, 4-3. The Cavaliers are fresh off capturing their third-straight ITA National Indoor Championship and list seven singles players in the ITA rankings.
Michael Shabaz leads the Cavaliers in the rankings at No. 5 with Sanam Singh following closely at No. 6. Drew Courtney posts at No. 15, Jarmere Jenkins at No. 19, Lee Singer at No. 55 and Houston Barrick and Steven Rooda at No. 72 and No. 120, respectively.
