Men’s Tennis Drops One Spot in ITA Rankings

BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team slid one spot to No. 34 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s rankings released on Friday by the ITA.

The slight drop occurs after a Feb. 5 matchup between the former No. 32 Rice Owls and then No. 33 LSU. LSU fell to Rice 6-1 in Houston, leaving the Tigers with their third loss on the road this season.

The Southeastern Conference remained well represented with each of the league teams listing in the rankings for the fifth-straight week.

Tennessee led the way for the SEC at No. 4 in the rankings. Georgia and Kentucky rounded out the top 10 at No. 7 and No. 10, respectively.

Ole Miss checked in at No. 11, Florida at No. 12, Alabama at No. 19 and Auburn at No. 27. Trailing
LSU were No. 42 Vanderbilt, No. 46 South Carolina, No. 50 Arkansas and No. 59 Mississippi State.

The Tigers return to action on Feb. 20 after a brief hiatus when LSU takes on top-10 team Virginia in a noon CST match at the Boyd Tinsley Courts in Charlottesville, Va.
