BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team will face non-conference rival Texas A&M at W.T. “Dub” Robinson Stadium for a Super Bowl Sunday showdown at 11 a.m. CST.
“Texas A&M has been our biggest rival outside the of the SEC for the past 20 years. It’s always a grudge match, so I’m expecting a very, tough competitive match,” said head coach Tony Minnis.
LSU (2-2) looks to rebound against the Aggies as the Lady Tigers dropped both of their matches to Auburn and San Diego at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
Last season, the Lady Tigers met the Aggies in College Station, Texas, for the matchup. After five hours of playing and a facility change due to rain, LSU ended the match victorious with a 4-3 win. The match marked the first time the Lady Tigers picked up a win at A&M since 1997.
The Lady Tigers feature No. 120 Whitney Wolf, who holds a 12-8 record this season and a 2-2 record at the No. 1 spot.
The Aggies (0-2) highlight three ranked players as Elzé Potgieter lists at No. 88, Nazari Urbina at No. 117 and Lauren Santacroce at No. 118, respectively. In doubles, Morgan Frank and Santacroce rank at No. 23 as the duo garners a 4-1 record.
Texas A&M leads the all-time series with LSU, 19-13.
