BATON ROUGE — The 29th-ranked LSU women’s tennis team will travel to Charlottesville, Va., Jan. 16-18 to compete at the weekend-long UVA Winter Invitational hosted by No. 26 Virginia at the Boyd Tinsley Courts.

“This is a great opportunity for our players to get some experience before the season starts,” said head coach Tony Minnis.  “We’re looking for the challenge, and it will be good to get individual experience.”

The tournament will serve as the team’s final action before the dual season begins on Jan. 24 versus UL-Lafayette and Prairie View A&M.

Other teams competing include No. 18 North Carolina, No. 62 Utah and host Virginia.

The Lady Tigers are led by 120th-ranked sophomore Whitney Wolf who garners a 10-3 fall singles record. Senior Nicole Kantor follows behind Wolf with a 6-4 fall record in singles.

First serve is slated for 9 a.m. CST Saturday.
