BATON ROUGE – Susan Jackson of the LSU gymnastics team picked up where she left off last season by earning the No. 5 spot in the all-around rankings released by GymInfo Monday.
Jackson ended last season ranked as the No. 4 all-around gymnast nationally, and after her 39.275 all-around performance against Maryland, Jackson checked in at No. 5 in a tie with Oregon State’s Makayla Stambaugh.
A senior from Spring, Texas, Jackson is tied for third on floor with a 9.90 score, tied for 11th on vault with a 9.85 and tied for 25th on bars with a 9.825 score.
Senior Kayla Rogers had a strong performance against Maryland when she posted three scores of 9.80-plus, and she is ranked No. 6 on vault with a 9.875.
In the team rankings, LSU (1-0) is ranked fourth on floor after scoring a 48.975 against the Terrapins, and the Tigers earned the ranking despite only competing five gymnasts in the event.
The Tigers checked in at No. 16 in the overall ranking after posting a 194.375 in the victory over Maryland.
LSU also ranks 15th on vault with a 48.725, tied for 17th on beam at 48.275 and 19th on bars at 48.400.
The Tigers will go on the road for the first time this season to compete at the Lady Luck Invitational Friday in Las Vegas, Nev., against Arizona State, Missouri and Southeastern Conference foe Kentucky.
