BATON ROUGE — Two members of the LSU soccer program, junior defender Courtney Alexander and freshman midfielder Natalie Ieyoub, recently traveled to Caribbean country of Haiti with the group Lespwa Worldwide for a week-long mission trip during the Christmas season.

They spent time in the town of Messailler, where they helped run a Vacation Bible School and assisted in construction projects for the school, including a church and orphanage within the complex in which they stayed. They also helped organize soccer games with the local children.

The organization Lespwa Worldwide derives its name from the Creole word meaning “hope,” and surely that is what Alexander and Ieyoub helped bring to the Haitian people during the Christmas season.
