Divers Finish Competition at Georgia Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. — The LSU divers wrapped up their stay at the Georgia Diving Invitational and Shootout Tuesday with sophomore Brian Gemberling leading the charge in the men’s platform competition.

The Levittown, Pa., native recorded his third top-10 finish of the competition, taking eighth out of 25 divers with a career-high score of 263.80. Fellow sophomore Matt Vieke claimed 13th with a mark of 242.25, and freshman Jesse Lyman finished right behind his teammate in 14th with a career best of 239.20.

On the women’s side, freshman Elle Schmidt posted a career-high score of 186.45 to register 14th.

Auburn’s Kelly Marx won the men’s platform with his mark of 398.75, while Alabama’s Carrie Dragland earned first-place in the women’s competition (318.35).

LSU diving will join the swimmers in Gainesville, Fla., to take on SEC rival Florida on Jan. 10.
