CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Lady Tigers Whitney Wolf and Ebie Wilson will compete in the singles finals Sunday of the Harvard Invitational hosted by Harvard at the Beren Tennis Center in Cambridge, Mass.
“Whitney and Ebie played really good tennis today to advance to the finals,” said head coach Tony Minnis.
“Whitney is playing outstanding right now, and I’m really proud of Ebie’s improvement. Hopefully they can finish it off and play as well tomorrow as they have played the entire weekend.”
Wolf, a Pride, La. native, defeated Misia Krasowski of Brown in the semifinals round 6-1, 6-1 and will face Cornell’s Christine Ordway in the final round.
Freshman Kaitlin Burns fell to Ordway in a tight duel 7-6(3), 6-3. Nicole Kantor also dropped her match to Ordway 7-6(1), 6-3.
The Lady Tigers’ Wilson raced past Brown’s Marisa Schonfeld 6-1, 6-3 and will face Sarah O’Neal of Cornell in her flight’s finals. Junior Kylie Adamek fell to Geraldine Leong of Cornell 6-2, 6-1 in her flight’s consolation semifinals. Sloane Mathis came up short to Harvard’s Louise Laciny 6-2, 7-6(2).
In doubles, Kantor and Wolf lost to Krasowski and Julie Flanzer of Brown 8-5. The freshmen duo of Burns and Wilson gave a great effort but fell to Brown’s Emily Ellis and Kathrin Sorokko 9-8(5). Adamek and Mathis were defeated by Catherine Stewart and Schonfeld of Brown 8-1.
The Lady Tigers will hit the courts again for an 8 a.m. CT slating.
