BATON ROUGE ? LSU senior midfielder Malorie Rutledge will wrap up her collegiate career as the most decorated player to ever wear the purple and gold, and she looks to add another honor to her already impressive resume as voting for the Soccer News Net Player of the Year awards is now open.

Tiger fans have the chance to vote for Rutledge as the Soccer News Net Regional and National Player of the Year through Dec. 15 by logging on to www.dallassoccernews.com.

Online fan voting will account for 40 percent of a player’s consideration for the awards, while the remaining 60 percent of the vote will be cast by the editorial staffs of the six Soccer News Net Web sites.

Rutledge has certainly proven to be among the premier players in all of women’s college soccer in each of the last two seasons as she earned her second career SEC Offensive Player of the Year honor and her third career First-Team All-SEC selection. She wrapped up the 2009 season with 13 goals and 12 assists for 38 points while leading the Tigers to their third-straight SEC West title and trip to the NCAA Tournament.

A native of Sharpsburg, Ga., Rutledge is sure to receive Consensus All-America accolades for the second year in a row as she has already been named a first-team member of the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women’s College Team of the Season and is a strong candidate for the Hermann Trophy.

With Rutledge leading the way, the Tigers finished the 2009 season with a 15-4-5 overall record and an 8-2-1 mark in SEC play en route to a No. 2 finish in the final SEC standings with a school record 25 points.
