Diver St. Germain Earns SEC Weekly Honor

BATON ROUGE — For the second time this season, LSU freshman diver Rebecca St. Germain has been honored by the Southeastern Conference as she was named the SEC Female Diver of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

“It’s a good reward for her hard work,” LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer said. “Becca is training really well and has raised her level of performance in every competition she’s competed in.”

St. Germain, who earned SEC Female Freshman of the Week honors following her performance against Tennessee on Oct. 17, helped the Lady Tigers register their first victory of the season last Friday versus Tulane with wins in both springboard diving events.

A native of San Antonio, Texas, St. Germain tallied a career-high 310.95 points in the one-meter, the fifth-highest total in school history, and recorded another career-high score in the three-meter, 313.43, which is eighth all-time at LSU.

The freshman is currently ranked third in the conference in the three-meter and fourth in the one-meter. Her scores are also the best among freshmen in the SEC this season.

LSU will make its first road trip of the season this weekend when the teams travel to Alabama and Florida State for separate dual meets, beginning on Friday, Nov. 6.
