BATON ROUGE — The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes has added a trio of staff members since the beginning of the 2009-10 season. LSUsports.net wraps up its three-part series with Ericka Lavender, who was hired as an Assistant Director in September.
“I’m very eager and excited to join the LSU academic team,” Lavender said. “This is a great opportunity for me to learn and work alongside such talented colleagues. I’m ready to contribute to the staff and help develop our student athletes personally, professionally, and academically.”
Lavender will advise the men’s basketball team along with the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs. She comes to LSU from North Carolina State where she served as an Assistant Director and Academic Coordinator. She also worked at Ohio State as an Academic Counselor.
“Ericka is a great addition to our Tiger family,” Executive Director Kenneth Miles said. “Her experiences and skills are a direct match for what we were looking for. We’re fortunate to have a well-respected advisor within the profession join our team.”
A 2000 graduate of Ashland University in recreation administration, Lavender also received her master’s degree in sports management from Xavier in 2003.
