Two Lady Tigers Play in ITA Regional Qualifying

BATON ROUGE — Members of the LSU women’s tennis team will travel to Auburn, Ala. to compete in the Campbell’s/ITA Southern Regional Championships Oct. 22-26 at the Yarborough Tennis Center.

“This is a really big tournament. This is an opportunity to advance to the National Indoor Tournament which would be a great feat for any of these players,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “Hopefully we take advantage of this opportunity and play good tennis.”

Teams participating in the tournament comprise the southern region, which includes Alabama, Alabama-Birmingham, Auburn, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Samford, South Alabama, Troy, Tulane, as well as LSU.

Senior Sloane Mathis and junior Kylie Adamek will participate in the qualifying round of the tournament Thursday as Mathis takes on Lindsey Mallory of Samford and Adamek plays Tulane’s Hila Elster.

The winners of these matches will go on to compete in the first round of the regional championships Friday.

First serve is slated for 5 p.m. CDT.
