BATON ROUGE — After helping lead the LSU soccer team to the top of the Southeastern Conference standings this past weekend, senior All-SEC midfielder Melissa Clarke was honored for her performance on Monday as the SEC Offensive Player of the Week.

Clarke scored a goal in each of LSU’s wins this past weekend as the Tigers picked up six points in league play on the road with a 3-0 win over Alabama on Friday and a 2-0 win over Auburn on Sunday.

Clarke, who is now the team’s leading goal scorer with seven goals in 12 matches this season, scored the second goal of the match against Alabama on Friday night and the second goal of the match against Auburn on Sunday afternoon. She also assisted on Carlie Banks‘ game-winning goal against the Crimson Tide to finish with five points on the weekend.

The Tigers boast a school record seven-game SEC unbeaten streak dating back to last season and are now in sole possession of first place in the overall SEC standings with a perfect 4-0 mark and 12 points in SEC play. LSU’s 4-0 start in league play is also a team best, improving its previous best of 3-1 in 1995.

Not only was Clarke named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week for her performance, but she was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women’s College Team of the Week on Monday morning.
