BATON ROUGE — LSU football fans traveling to Seattle for Saturday’s LSU-Washington football game are encouraged by Head Coach Les Miles and the LSU Athletics Department to wear gold to the stadium for the game.
All of LSU’s 8,000 ticket allotment has been sold for the game and Miles wants his Tiger faithful to be well seen in Husky Stadium. Earlier this week Coach Miles on his Twitter site posted: “Let’s show the nation what LSU fans in Husky Stadium look like ? wear GOLD to the game.”
The Tigers and Husky meet at 9:30 p.m. CDT on Saturday night in Seattle in a game to be nationally televised on ESPN. The team will depart Thursday night to the Pacific Northwest after practice and will conclude preparations for the game in Seattle on Friday.
A new tradition that is gradually grabbing a foothold among college football fans is also slated for Friday, the annual “College Colors Day.” The event, which coincides with both “back to school” and the kick-off of intercollegiate athletes, including football, seeks to celebrate and promote the traditions and spirit that make the college tradition great by encouraging fans, alumni and students to wear apparel of their favorite college throughout the day on Friday.
College Colors Day strives to promote higher education in the United States through increased public awareness and celebrates the achievements of colleges and universities, acknowledging their critical and fundamental importance.
The annual College Colors Day, which began in 2005, is organized by the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) and its consortium of colleges and universities. For more information about CLC, visit www.clc.com.
