Soccer Announces ‘Heads Up for the Cure’

BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team announced Saturday that it will join forces with the Baton Rouge Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure for “Heads Up for the Cure” to promote the fight against breast cancer when it plays host to the Oklahoma Sooners on Sept. 11 at the LSU Soccer Complex.

Tickets to the match are just $1 and can be purchased online at LSUsports.net, while fans wearing pink will receive free admission to the game. The match is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

“We are looking forward to a great event and having the opportunity to partner with the Susan G. Komen Foundation for ?Heads Up for the Cure,’” said LSU head coach Brian Lee. “It’s an event that will benefit a very worthy cause, and we invite all of our fans to not only come out and support the team, but also help us in the fight against breast cancer. It will be a truly special night for our program.”

As part of the event, the Tigers will wear special pink jerseys that have been donated to the team by Nike, while the first 1,000 fans arriving at the LSU Soccer Complex will receive a free pink LSU pom-pom and a pink bracelet courtesy of the Team LSU partner Ochsner.

A silent auction located near the entrance of the LSU Soccer Complex will be open throughout the match with all proceeds and other monetary contributions being donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to assist in the hunt for the cure for breast cancer. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated.

In addition, LSU soccer is recruiting fans to take part in the Locks of Love promotion during halftime. Fans with hair measuring at least 10 inches in length can help by having it cut on the field during halftime as a donation to Locks of Love. Those interested are asked to contact Daniel Nunes of the LSU Athletics Marketing and Promotions Department at 225-578-6884 or by e-mail at promotions@lsu.edu.
