BATON ROUGE — Leading into the upcoming 2009 season, LSUsports.net will get to know the four freshmen on the Tiger volleyball team. Today’s edition features defensive specialist Meghan Mannari.
Mannari earned All-Tournament honors after her team at Bishop Lynch High School in Texas won the 2008 TAPPS 5A State Championship. The Frisco native also notched District MVP honors in 2008 after claiming District “Best Defensive Player” accolades in 2006 and 2007. Her club team, Dallas Skyline, finished second at the 2008 USA Junior National Championships.
“I came to LSU because I felt comfortable with the players and coaches,” Mannari said. “My plan is to work hard in practice and push myself to get better every day to help our team be successful.”
Mannari and the Tigers open the 2009 season this weekend at the Shamrock Invitational. LSU squares off with No. 5 Stanford, Denver and host Notre Dame. Live stats for all three matches will be available on LSUsports.net
The Fall Sports Pass which costs $50 for adults, $25 for youth is now on-sale at www.LSUSports.net, the official Web site of LSU Athletics. The pass features 21 action packed events and results in a 66 percent savings off regular season ticket prices between the volleyball and soccer programs. Fans who purchase a Fall Sports Pass receive an LSU T-Shirt, Visor and Frisbee.
