BATON ROUGE — Leading into the upcoming 2009 volleyball season, LSUsports.net will get to know the four freshmen on the Tiger volleyball team. Today’s edition features outside hitter Madie Jones.
Jones joins the Tigers from Plano West High School in Texas where she holds the school record for most kills in a season. She picked up All-District 8-5A First-Team and Dallas Morning News All-Area Second-Team selections in 2008. She also was listed on PrepVolleyball.com’s Class of 2009 Top 50 recruits. Her club team, Dallas Skyline, earned a second-place finish at the 2008 USA Junior National Championships.
“Wearing the LSU uniform is a great honor and something I’m extremely excited about,” Jones said. “My goal is to work hard each time I take the court and take on whatever roll to contribute to our team.”
Jones and the Tigers play host to the annual Purple & Gold Scrimmage Saturday at the Maravich Center. Admission is free and the Tigers will host a Kid’s Clinic at 5 p.m. prior to the scrimmage.
The Fall Sports Pass which costs $50 for adults, $25 for youth is now on-sale at www.LSUSports.net, the official Web site of LSU Athletics. The pass features 21 action packed events and results in a 66 percent savings off regular season ticket prices between the volleyball and soccer programs. Fans who purchase a Fall Sports Pass receive an LSU T-Shirt, Visor and Frisbee.
