BATON ROUGE — The LSU volleyball team headed into its second week of preseason camp Wednesday splitting a pair of sessions between the Carl Maddox Field House and Maravich Center.
The Tigers had a productive opening week of camp working on a multitude of drills, including first contact, ball control and various fundamental aspects of the game.
“We’ve definitely met our goals and are a little bit ahead of schedule after the first week of camp,” head coach Fran Flory said. “That’s a tribute to the players’ fitness level. We’ve been able to work on some different lineups and look at certain players playing next to each other. There are still some things to work on. It’s a battle to get on the court, but that’s a nice problem to have as a coach.”
Fans are invited to attend the annual Purple & Gold Scrimmage Saturday at the Maravich Center. Admission is free and the Tigers will host a Kid’s Clinic at 5 p.m. prior to the scrimmage.
The Fall Sports Pass which costs $50 for adults, $25 for youth is now on-sale at www.LSUSports.net, the official Web site of LSU Athletics. Tickets also can be purchased at the ticket office or by calling (225) 578-2184 or (800) 960-8587. LSU students, faculty and staff are admitted free with a LSU ID.
The pass features 21 action packed events and results in a 66 percent savings off regular season ticket prices between the volleyball and soccer programs. Fans who purchase a Fall Sports Pass receive an LSU T-Shirt, Visor and Frisbee.
Lights, Camera, Action!
Coach Flory left morning practice early to tape a segment on the concourse of the Maravich Center for CST’s Tiger Tracks. She sat down with Jordy Hultberg to preview the upcoming season. The show will air next Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on CST.
The entire team is scheduled to meet with LSU television staff members John Schiebe and David Landry in between tomorrow’s practice sessions inside the Curtain Room of the Maravich Center. The Tigers will tape a variety of items ranging from the SEC’s Sportsmanship Announcement to next match promotions that will be seen on the Maravich Center video boards throughout the season.
Dinner for Dinner
Last Wednesday, LSU volleyball’s twitter site posted that the Tigers had breakfast for dinner at Coach Flory’s house. The Tigers will have dinner for dinner tonight as the staff prepares chicken and shrimp kabobs along with baked potatoes.
