BERLIN — Sprinters Kelly Baptiste and Muna Lee were the only LSU athletes to compete during Wednesday’s action at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics and both advanced to the semifinal round of the 200-meter dash to be run Thursday at Olympic Stadium.
The duo lined up alongside one another in the same first-round heat on Wednesday as Lee crossed the line in first place with a time of 22.76 seconds followed by Baptiste in second place with a time of 23.00.
They will line up side by side once again in the third heat of the semifinal round that is scheduled to run at 12:50 p.m. CT on Thursday. Both athletes have already competed this week at the World Championships while advancing to the semifinal round of the 100-meter dash on Monday.
The duo will also run on the 4×100-meter relay for their respective countries as Lee represents the United States and Baptiste runs for Trinidad & Tobago. The qualifying round of the women’s 4×100-meter relay is on tap for this weekend as it is scheduled to run on Saturday at 11:10 a.m. CT.
