BATON ROUGE — With the 2009 regular season opener just three days away, fans have the chance to get the most up-to-date information on the two-time defending SEC Western Division champion LSU soccer team by following the Tigers through Twitter.
The Twitter site for the LSU soccer team can be accessed at www.LSUsports.net/twitter, which gives fans the opportunity to sign up to receive text-message length updates on their cell phone or through the Internet. Updates on the program will be made periodically by Head Coach Brian Lee and Associate Sports Information Director Will Stafford.
In order to become a follower of @LSUsoccer, fans must first create their own Twitter account, which is free at www.twitter.com.
Setting up text updates through Twitter is easy using the following steps:
1. Under “Settings,” click on the tab for “Devices.”
2. Enter your cell number using a “+” before the country code, which is the number 1 for the United States. The cell number entered should be in the format +15552223333.
3. Check the box that says, “It’s okay for Twitter to send txt messages to my phone,” before clicking the “Save” button.
4. Return to your homepage and access the list of Twitter users you are following.
5. Under LSUTrackField, set Device Updates to “On.”
