BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — LSU middle blocker Brittnee Cooper was selected to the 2009 All-SEC Preseason Volleyball Team Monday as voted upon by the league’s volleyball coaches.
“Brittnee is extremely deserving of this honor and has always been a physical presence,” head coach Fran Flory said. “She gained invaluable experience and confidence by getting another chance to train with the A2 National Team. She possesses every offensive shot and has developed each phase of her game.”
Cooper, an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention in 2008, was key down the stretch for the Tigers registering double-digit kills in 10 of her last 11 outings, including a career-best 24 kills against No. 8 Florida (Oct. 24).
The Houston, Texas native paced the LSU offense in conference play powering home 226 kills and ranked fifth connecting on a .343 attack percentage en route to an All-SEC First-Team selection. She also was strong on the defensive end and paced the SEC averaging 1.21 blocks per set.
