Football Records Sixth-Straight Season Ticket Sellout

BATON ROUGE — LSU has sold out of season football tickets for the sixth straight year, assistant AD for ticket operations Brian Broussard announced on Friday.

LSU sold 68,650 season tickets for the 2009 home slate, which equals the school record set a year ago.

LSU has sold out of season tickets every year dating back to the 2004 season when 66,232 season tickets were sold the year following the Tigers’ 2003 BCS National Championship. LSU sold 68,230 season tickets in 2007, 67,700 in 2006, and 66,300 in 2005.

“The demand for season tickets is just as strong as the two years following our national championships,” Broussard said. “We’ve sold every season ticket that we can sell and if we had the ability to sell more, we could.”

Last year, LSU set the school record for overall home attendance as 739,065 fans watched the Tigers eight home games. LSU ranked No. 7 nationally in average attendance at 92,383, which ranks as the second-highest total in school history. Tiger Stadium’s capacity is listed as 92,400, making it the seventh-largest on-campus facility in college football.

LSU opens its 2009 home schedule on Sept. 12 when the Tigers host Vanderbilt at 6 p.m. in Tiger Stadium. Other home games for the Tigers in 2009 include: Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 19, Florida on Oct. 10, Auburn on Oct. 24, Tulane on Oct. 31, Louisiana Tech on Nov. 14 and Arkansas on Nov. 28.
