BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The LSU volleyball program learned Thursday that two of its home matches against Kentucky and Florida have been picked up on national television as part of SEC’s unprecedented television agreement.
The start times of both matches have been pushed back to accommodate ESPNU. The Kentucky match now begins at 2 p.m. on September 20, while the Florida match is featured in primetime at 6 p.m. on October 11.
The SEC also released ESPNU’s soccer schedule Thursday and the championship Tiger programs are spotlighted a combined four times, more than any other league school.
“We are extremely honored and very appreciative of the opportunity to showcase LSU volleyball on the national stage at the PMAC,” head coach Fran Flory said. “Both matches promise to be exciting as Florida and Kentucky are two of the top SEC programs.”
LSU has 12 matches scheduled against 2008 NCAA Tournament teams as the Tigers open the season against national runner-up Stanford followed by matches against Denver and host Notre Dame from Aug. 28-30 at the Shamrock Invitational.
Fans are invited to meet the team Saturday as the Tigers hold “Mall Ball” from 1-3 p.m. CT at Centre Court on the first floor of the Mall of Louisiana.
The Fall Sports Pass which costs $50 for adults, $25 for youth also will be on-sale at the mall. The pass features 21 action packed events and results in a 66 percent savings off regular season ticket prices between the volleyball and soccer programs. Fans who purchase a Fall Sports Pass receive an LSU T-Shirt, Visor and Frisbee.
