ROME — LSU swimmer Jane Trepp represented her native country of Estonia and took part in three events at the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome, including an impressive showing in the 50-meter breaststroke Saturday.

The junior-to-be tied for 21st out of 108 competitors in that event with a lifetime best of 31.32 seconds, finishing just five spots back from a berth in the semifinals.

Trepp also recorded personal bests in the 100m breast and 50m butterfly and placed in the top halves of both races. The three-time All-American posted a time of 1:10.61 in the 100m breast to take 43rd and swam to a mark of 27.39 in the 50m fly to come in 41st.

Men’s signee Craig Hamilton also competed at the World Championships. A member of Great Britain’s squad, Hamilton swam to a 34th-place finish in the 10k open water competition.
