BATON ROUGE — LSU infielder Tyler Hanover, one of several Tigers enjoying productive summer seasons, participated in the Cape Cod League All-Star Game Thursday night at Fenway Park in Boston.
Hanover drew a walk as a pinch-hitter for the East squad, which dropped a 3-0 decision to the West in a game shortened to five innings by rain.
Hanover, playing for the Yarmouth-Dennis (Mass.) Red Sox, is batting .328 this summer (20-for-61) with three doubles, two homers and 12 RBI.
LSU catcher Micah Gibbs, who has slugged three homers in 35 at-bats for Yarmouth-Dennis, was named an alternate for the East All-Star squad. The Red Sox roster also includes LSU pitcher Austin Ross, who is 1-1 with a 1.46 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 12.1 innings.
LSU outfielder Leon Landry, playing for the Harwich (Mass.) Mariners, is batting .302 (13-for-43) this summer with one double and one homer.
Two other Tigers ? infielder Matt Gaudet and pitcher Shane Riedie ? have been named All-Stars for the Hannibal (Mo.) Cavemen in the Prospect League. Gaudet has 10 doubles, four homers and 19 RBI for the Cavemen, while Riedie is 4-2 with a 2.63 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 41 innings of work.
LSU infielder Grant Dozar has collected three homers, one triple, four doubles and nine RBI in 19 games for the Cavemen.
Meanwhile, LSU outfielder Johnny Dishon and pitcher Ben Alsup have excelled in the Valley League. Dishon is batting .313 (36-for-115) with 11 doubles, four homers, 32 runs and 23 RBI for the Staunton (Va.) Braves, while Alsup is 3-0 with a 2.42 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 22.1 innings for the Luray (Va.) Wranglers.
