BATON ROUGE — The LSU Sports Information Department finished tied for second in the nation among Division I schools in the annual College Sports Information Directors of America publication contest.
LSU tied with Kentucky with 17 honors each, behind only the University of Oklahoma with 21 citations. UCLA earned 16 honors, followed by Texas A&M (15), Kansas State and Ohio State (14 each). The awards were presented at CoSIDA’s annual convention which was held recently this year in San Antonio, Texas.
Highlighting the publications were two second in the nation citations for men’s golf (produced by Will Stafford, Kenli Langlois, Jason Feirman) and the post-season football guide for the 2008 Chick-Fil-A Bowl (Michael Bonnette, Bill Martin, Feirman). The LSU Women’s Track and Field Guide (Stafford, Krystal Bennett, Steve Franz) was third in the nation.
LSU’s baseball guide (Bill Franques, Bennett, Franz), volleyball guide (Bennett, Melissa Foley, Franz) and men’s tennis guide (Feirman, Elizabeth Stuart, Courtney Wimmert) were both fourth in the nation in their respective categories, while LSU’s 100th anniversary men’s basketball guide finished fifth in the nation (Kent Lowe, Feirman, Langlois).
The LSU baseball guide, the men’s golf guide, the women’s track and field guide and the men’s tennis guide all won CoSIDA honors for best cover.
