BATON ROUGE — The national champion LSU track and field program is racing toward another appearance at the NCAA Championships, and now fans have the chance to follow the Tigers and Lady Tigers like never before as the team has launched its own Twitter profile.
The Twitter site for the LSU track and field teams can be accessed at www.LSUsports.net/twitter, which gives fans the opportunity to sign up to receive text-message length updates on their cell phone or through the Internet. Updates on the program will be made periodically by Head Coach Dennis Shaver and Associate Sports Information Director Will Stafford.
In order to become a follower of @LSUTrackField, fans must first create their very own Twitter account, which is free at www.twitter.com.
Setting up text updates through Twitter is easy using the following steps:
1. Under “Settings,” click on the tab for “Devices.”
2. Enter your cell number using a “+” before the country code, which is the number 1 for the United States. The cell number entered should be in the format +15552223333.
3. Check the box that says, “It’s okay for Twitter to send txt messages to my phone,” before clicking the “Save” button.
4. Return to your homepage and access the list of Twitter users you are following.
5. Under LSUTrackField, set Device Updates to “On.”
