BATON ROUGE — The No. 20 LSU softball team will square off against Cal State Fullerton Friday as part of the NCAA Tempe Regional, joining host and No. 10 national seed Arizona State along with San Diego State. First pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPNU.

The Tigers (32-16-1, 15-10-1 SEC) received an at-large bid and were one of nine SEC teams selected to the field. The nine teams placed by the SEC set a NCAA Tournament field record.

“We’re always excited about making the postseason,” head coach Yvette Girouard said. “It’s something that you don’t take for granted. The drama was building because we were selected to one of the last sites to be announced.  We’re a young team that has three California kids so they’ll be some Tiger fans in the crowd.”

All of LSU’s games from the NCAA Tempe Regional will be televised by the ESPN Family of Networks in addition to being broadcasted live on The X 104.5/104.9 in the Baton Rouge area.

If the Tigers were to win their regional, they are paired against the winner of NCAA Tempe Regional and would likely travel to face seventh-seeded Oklahoma if the Sooners advance out of their regional. The winner of that Super Regional would advance to the Women’s College World Series.
