BATON ROUGE — The 22nd-ranked LSU women’s tennis team will be the 10th seed in the Southeastern Conference Tournament hosted by Arkansas April 23-26, the league office announced Sunday.
LSU (13-9) finished 3-7 in SEC play, and the Lady Tigers will take on No. 7 seed Ole Miss in the first round at 12:30 p.m. CDT Thursday at the UA Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Lady Tigers dropped a 5-2 decision to the Rebels on April 10 in Oxford.
Should LSU advance to the quarterfinals, the Lady Tigers would face host and No. 2 seed Arkansas, who defeated LSU, 4-3 Saturday in the Dills Indoor Facility in Fayetteville.
The tournament will get underway at 8:30 a.m. when No. 8 seed Alabama faces No. 9 Auburn followed by fifth-seeded Vanderbilt versus 12th-seeded Mississippi State at 10:30 a.m.
After the Lady Tigers and Rebels play, No. 6 South Carolina will take on No. 11 Kentucky at 2:30 p.m. to close out first round action.
No. 1 seed Georgia, Arkansas, No. 3 Tennessee and No. 4 Florida receive first round byes.
The championship will be played April 26 at noon.
Last season sixth-seeded LSU advanced to the quarterfinal round of the tournament, defeating Alabama, 4-1 in the first round before falling to Arkansas, 4-0 in the quarterfinals in Auburn, Ala.
