BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team ranked at No. 22 in the latest Campbell’s/ITA Rankings released Tuesday.
Eight other Southeastern Conference teams join the Lady Tigers (13-8, 3-6 SEC) in the top 25.
At the top of the list is Georgia at No. 2. Tennessee and Arkansas check in at 13th and 14th, and Florida at 16th. Vanderbilt was voted No. 19 and South Carolina No. 20. Behind LSU is Kentucky and Ole Miss as they round off the list at 24th and 25th.
All 12 SEC schools ranked in this week’s polls.
Individually, senior Megan Falcon jumped six spots to No. 11 as she defeated Ole Miss’s then-29th-ranked Kristi Boxx 6-1,6-3 and Martina Banikova of Mississippi State 6-0,6-0.
Falcon leads the Lady Tigers with a sparkling 30-6 season record and an incredible 95-16 career record. She is just five short of marking her 100th career victory as she is tied with Carol Boston at No. 11 on the all-time wins list for LSU.
In addition to singles rankings, Falcon and partner Mykala Hedberg listed at No. 25 in the doubles rankings. The tandem owns a 25-7 season record with seven wins over nationally-ranked opponents.
The Lady Tigers will round up their regular season for a noon match Saturday as they face Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. at the UA Varsity Tennis courts.
