BATON ROUGE — After coming off of a loss to Ole Miss, the 16th-ranked LSU women’s tennis team will look to rebound against Mississippi State (9-8, 0-8 SEC) Sunday at 1 p.m. in Starkville, Miss. at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
“It was a very tough loss against Ole Miss. It’s important to show what type of character we have by bouncing back against Mississippi State,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “We’re looking forward to the match and getting back on the courts.”
The match will serve as Senior Day for the Lady Bulldogs as three seniors will be honored.
The Lady Bulldogs fell to No. 14 Arkansas Friday in windy conditions. The team is led in wins by Radka Ferancova as she checks in with 11 wins on the season. In doubles, Martina Banikova and Elna de Villiers hold the top spot with 11 wins as well.
LSU (13-7, 3-5) is led by senior 17th-ranked Megan Falcon who holds an impressive 29-6 season record and 94-16 career record. Following Falcon is junior Nicole Kantor who carries 23 victories this season.
The 17th-ranked duo of Falcon and Mykala Hedberg bring a 25-6 record to the courts as they continue to hold the top doubles spot for the Lady Tigers.
For the series history, LSU leads Mississippi State 23-8 as the Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Bulldogs last season, 5-1.
