BATON ROUGE — The No. 16 LSU women’s tennis team will travel to Mississippi for the weekend to face Ole Miss and Mississippi State. The Lady Tigers will first play Ole Miss on Friday at 3 p.m. CDT at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center in Oxford, Miss.
“We expect a very tough match against Ole Miss,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “Hopefully we can continue the good momentum that we picked up last weekend.”
The 28th-ranked Rebels (10-7, 3-5 SEC) are led by freshman Kristi Boxx as she is ranked 29th in the nation and holds a 10-2 record on the season. In doubles, Boxx and partner Karen Nijssen check in at No. 45.
LSU (13-6, 3-4) is led by No. 17 Megan Falcon as she boasts a 28-6 season record and an incredible 93-16 career record. Falcon and senior Mykala Hedberg carry a 25-5 season record and seven victories against ranked opponents.
In the series history, Ole Miss leads LSU 20-14. In the teams’ last meeting, the Lady Tigers defeated the Rebels at home, 6-1.
