PORTSMOUTH, Va. — LSU senior center Chris Johnson, who started on the 2009 SEC regular season championship team is taking part this week in the annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament that invites 64 of the top seniors in the country for a series of games played before NBA scouts and general managers.
Johnson, who hails from Montross, Va., is on the Cherry, Bekaert and Holland roster and will see a couple of familiar faces he has played again in his career ? Korvotney Barber of Auburn and Jon Brockman of Washington.
Also from the SEC invited to the event which begins Wednesday night are Ronald Steele and Alonzo Gee of Alabama.
The 6-11 Johnson averaged 7.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 2.7 blocks per game this past season while shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 74.7 percent from the free throw line.
