Men’s Tennis No. 32 in Latest ITA Poll

BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team rose two spots in the Campbell/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings to No. 32, the ITA announced Tuesday.

The move comes after LSU split weekend Southeastern Conference competition on the road against No. 10 Florida and a then-17th-ranked South Carolina.

LSU (7-9, 2-6 SEC), fell to the top 10 Gators, 5-2, but cruised to a 5-1 mark over the Gamecocks in Columbia, S.C.

Florida remained at No. 10 in the rankings while South Carolina dropped to No. 24, both of which contributed to a strong SEC presence in the rankings.

All twelve SEC teams appeared in the rankings with four in the top 10. In addition to Florida retaining the No. 10 slot, Georgia posted at No. 5, Tennessee held No. 4 and Ole Miss, LSU’s next opponent, remained at No. 2.

LSU’s match against No. 2 Ole Miss is slated for 1 p.m. on Friday and will kick-off a weekend of SEC competition as the Tigers follow Friday’s competition with a Sunday match against 69th-ranked Mississippi State at 1 p.m.
