BATON ROUGE — The No. 24 LSU women’s tennis team will host South Carolina on Senior Day at the W.T. “Dub” Robinson Stadium at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Fans are invited to come out as LSU (12-6, 2-4 SEC) will honor four seniors ? Megan Falcon, Mykala Hedberg, Chandler Kleinpeter and Staten Spencer.
“We’re about to face another top-notch team in South Carolina. They just upset No. 15 Arkansas,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “They are having a very solid season. They’ll be a top 25 team when the polls come out next week. We’ve got enough momentum, so we need to keep it up and come out with a win.”
Both LSU and South Carolina (11-7, 4-3) are fresh off of upsets over No. 16 Florida and No. 15 Arkansas.
South Carolina runs on a 4-match win streak as the team is led by 52nd-ranked Ana Marija Zubori and 59th-ranked Gira Schofield. Zubori has registered 16 wins on court two and is undefeated against SEC opponents. Schofield holds an 11-6 record for the season. In doubles, No. 63 Zubori and Natasa Vuckovic lead the Gamecocks with 15 victories.
The Lady Tigers are led by senior All-American Megan Falcon who carries a 27-6 season record and an outstanding 92-16 career record. Junior Nicole Kantor follows closely behind Falcon as she has notched 22 wins this season.
Falcon and Mykala Hedberg form the nation’s 17th-ranked doubles pair. The duo brings 13 dual match victories to the courts with a 25-4 season record.
