BATON ROUGE — Six LSU athletes teamed with the Family Service of Greater Baton Rouge to participate in the Western themed Sapphires ?N Spurs event Friday evening at Parker Coliseum on the LSU campus.
Football players Andrew Decker and Orlando Gunn, pole vaulter Lauren Saucier along with swimmers Clint Hallum, Laust Helmig, and Luc Rykosky interacted with the kids by working the different work stations that included pony rides, a farm animal petting area, roping contests and riding a mechanical bull.
“This was a worthy cause to get involved with,” Hallum said. “I enjoyed seeing the kids have so much fun tonight.”
Contributions received from this event went to help support Family Service of Greater Baton Rouge and its mission of supporting and strengthening the lives of children, individuals and families through direct services and positive social actions.
