BATON ROUGE — Coming off the strongest all-around performance of her career, LSU junior Susan Jackson was honored as the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Jackson was instrumental in leading LSU to its second-highest team score of 197.150 as the Tigers won their fifth-straight meet by defeating NC State in the Second Annual Etta James Memorial Meet Saturday.
Jackson won the all-around with a career-best 39.700 mark, and she claimed three event titles to go along with her dynamic all-around score.
Jackson set a new career-high with a 9.950 on beam, and she recorded a season-high 9.925 floor and tied her season-high on bars with a 9.925. Jackson also posted a 9.90 on vault, which was good enough for a second-place finish in the event behind Ashleigh Clare-Kearney‘s perfect 10.0.
With the four individual titles against NC State, Jackson upped her season total to 12 titles as she has earned two vault titles, three on bars, four on beam, one on floor and two all-around.
The SEC honor is the first of Jackson’s career.
No. 6 LSU will return to action Friday when the Tigers travel to Shreveport, La., to take on Centenary at 7 p.m. CDT in the Gold Dome.
