BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team will take on its second Southeastern Conference opponent of the weekend as the Tigers square off against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sunday at 1 p.m. in W.T. Robinson Stadium.
LSU leads Alabama in the series by 38-22 mark. As the two teams last squared off on Alabama’s home courts, the Crimson Tide overcame the Tigers as LSU fell short, 5-2, in a hard-fought match.
Both LSU (4-3) and Alabama have an arsenal of nationally-ranked players.
The Tigers hold the 9th-ranked singles player in senior Michael Venus. Venus also holds a doubles ranking with freshman Neal Skupski as the tandem posts as the No. 13 duo.
Alabama (10-1) features two singles players in the rankings with No. 66 Saketh Myneni and No. 114 Mathieu Thibaudeau. In addition to singles, the Crimson Tide holds three ranked duos. Myneni pairs with Billy Mertz to highlight Alabama’s doubles rankings at No. 27. Thibaudeau and Ricky Doverspike rank at No. 29 and Michael Jung and Trey Walston complete Alabama’s presence in the doubles rankings at No. 73.
