Women’s Tennis Looks to Rebound at Alabama

BATON ROUGE — After falling to Auburn Friday, the No. 18 LSU women’s tennis team will look to rebound as they face Alabama Sunday at 1 p.m. CDT at the Tennis Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Fans are reminded to set their clocks forward an hour tonight, as Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. in the United States.

“Alabama is on a hot streak. They’re playing really good tennis. We’ve got to come out with the determination that we started out with in order to have a shot at beating this team,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “We’ll regroup and come out and play very hard tomorrow.”

Alabama (9-0, 1-0 SEC) lost the doubles point Friday but rallied back to defeat Arkansas, 4-3, in their SEC opener.

The Crimson Tide feature 82nd-ranked Tiffany Welcher, who is 14-8 on the season. In doubles, Alabama is led by No. 64 Courtney McLane and Welcher and No. 79 Paulina Bigos and Taylor Lindsey. Both pairs check in at 7-2 in dual play on the season.

LSU (7-3, 0-1 SEC) is led by No. 12 Megan Falcon and junior Nicole Kantor. Falcon brings a 21-5 record to the courts with seven victories over nationally ranked opponents, while Kantor is 18-7 on the season.

No. 17 Falcon and Mykala Hedberg continue to dominate in doubles as the pair leads the team with a 21-3 record and have a nine-match win streak.
