BATON ROUGE — After a 196.150 performance in a victory over ninth-ranked Arkansas last Friday, the LSU gymnastics squad checked in at No. 11 in the national team rankings released by GymInfo Monday.
LSU (11-2, 4-2 Southeastern Conference) has a regional qualifying score of 196.290. Georgia remained No. 1 in the nation with a 197.035 RQS, and Utah remained second with a 196.885 score. Stanford checked in at No. 3 with a 196.590 while Florida moved up to fourth (196.465) and Alabama was fifth (196.455).
The SEC placed all seven teams in the top 25 as Auburn fell three spots to No. 8 with a 196.310 RQS, Arkansas moved to No. 10 (196.290) and Kentucky was No. 24 (194.590).
LSU jumped into the top five in three events as the Tigers remained at No. 4 on vault with a 49.230 RQS, moved up one spot to fifth on bars with a 49.220 RQS and jumped two spots to tie UCLA for fifth on beam with a 49.105 score. The Tigers also ranked 14th on floor with a 48.965 RQS.
Individually, senior Ashleigh Clare-Kearney remained No. 3 nationally in the all-around standings with a 39.515 RQS. Junior Susan Jackson checked in at No. 6 in the all-around with a 39.410 score.
Clare-Kearney also remained No. 1 in the nation on floor with a 9.935 RQS, and she moved up to third on vault with a 9.920 score. Clare-Kearney was sixth on bars with a 9.885 RQS.
Jackson checked in at No. 14 on vault with a 9.880 score, and she was ranked 16th on bars (9.865) and tied for 21st on beam (9.850).
LSU will return to action Saturday in the Second Annual Etta James Memorial Meet beginning at 6 p.m. CT in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
