BATON ROUGE — The 14th ranked LSU men’s tennis team squares off against in-state teams UL-Lafayette and New Orleans on Saturday in W.T. “Dub” Robinson Stadium.
“This is a good year for both schools, and UNO, who is really just starting its program, already has a win over a ranked opponent in South Alabama.” LSU head coach Jeff Brown said. “This is also the strongest ULL team I’ve seen in years.”
LSU (2-2) and UL-Lafayette last faced each other in 2008. The two teams squared off in Baton Rouge as the Tigers cruised to a 7-0 mark over Ragin’ Cajuns to push LSU’s lead in the series record to 17-0. UL-Lafayette brings a 3-2 record into the “Dub” as it faces LSU in the first match on Saturday.
UNO brings a 7-4 record into its match against LSU as the Privateers return to tennis for the first time since the 2004-05 season. Among its victories, UNO overcame former No. 59 South Alabama by a 5-2 mark. LSU leads the all-time series between the two by a 21-0 mark and defeated UNO by a 6-1 mark when the two teams last met in 2004.
LSU’s home doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. with UL-Lafayette followed by the match with New Orleans at 5 p.m.
