BATON ROUGE — Fresh off a 6-0 victory over McNeese State in-front of 2,172 fans during the highly acclaimed much anticipated grand opening of the new Tiger Park, the No. 21 LSU softball team plays host to the first of two tournaments on consecutive weekends as Ohio State, Sam Houston State and No. 5 Texas A&M come to town.
“It was a script yesterday that no one could have written any better for us,” head coach Yvette Girouard said. ”The park was packed and the weather was gorgeous. The atmosphere was everything that we envisioned. There is going to be strong competition all weekend. We’re a very talented young team that continues to get better each time we take the field.”
Girouard also announced Thursday schedule changes for Sunday’s bracket play of the Easton Tiger Classic this weekend played at the new Tiger Park.
After pool play is completed Saturday, there will be three games Sunday for bracket play. Ohio State will play against the highest available seed in the 11 a.m. game. The two remaining teams will play in the 9 a.m. game.
Due to travel considerations, the team that plays Ohio State automatically advances to the championship game at 1:30 p.m. and plays the winner of the 9 a.m. game.
The Tigers open the tournament Friday against Ohio State. First pitch is on-tap for 6:07 p.m. as Cox Sports Television and KLSU 91.1 FM will broadcast the game live.
