BATON ROUGE — The Tiger Athletic Foundation held its annual Academic Excellence Gala on Sunday at the LSU Stadium Club, and junior golfer Brian Leveille was honored as the LSU Male Scholar Athlete of the Year during the festivities.

Leveille has built an impressive resume in the classroom since arriving at LSU in 2005 as he has maintained a lofty 3.857 cumulative grade-point average in economics. The Basking Ridge, N.J., native is set to begin his graduate degree program in finance.

Leveille was not the only Tiger golfer to be honored during Sunday’s gala as the team featured a total of six recipients of the LSU Director’s Cup and seven members of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. All honors awarded to LSU student-athletes during the gala were based on their outstanding performance both on and off course during the 2007-08 academic year.

Among those receiving the LSU Director’s Cup include Thomas Galloway, Bryant Lach, Garrett Runion, Brent Struthers and Beck Troutman. Each was also honored as a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll along with former Tiger standout Brian Noonan.
