BATON ROUGE — The LSU softball program will enter the next chapter of its storied history Wednesday when the new Tiger Park opens its gates for the inaugural season.
Located on Skip Bertman Drive across from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine and adjacent to the LSU Women’s Soccer Complex, the new Tiger Park features 1,289 seats? including 587 chair-back seats? and the capability of accommodating 1,200 more fans on the left field berm.
“Congratulations to the fans, players and institution of LSU on this extraordinary facility,” National Pro Fastpitch Commissioner Cheri Kempf said. “The new Tiger Park is a ballpark full of character. It was obviously designed traditionally, to provide the fan with a fun, exciting, and intimate experience with the game. This accomplishment is a wonderful visual representation of not only the commitment to the very deserving LSU Softball Team, but further, to women’s athletics. Another bright feather in the cap of LSU and its athletic department.”
The park features state-of-the-art amenities, including a video board in right field that is 7’6” tall x 20′ wide with pixels 23mm apart.The open concourse between the first and third base lines also will have multiple concession options for the fans.
The new Tiger Park is equipped with first-class team facilities, including a locker room, team lounge, meeting facility, training facility, equipment room, indoor batting cages and umpire locker rooms.
LSU also placed individual game tickets on-sale Monday. The ticket cost per game ranges from $3 to $7.

LSU’s marquee home schedule features nine combined games against No. 1 Florida, No. 3 Alabama, No. 5 Texas A&M and No. 12 Tennessee.
The Tigers averaged a school-record attendance for the second consecutive season during 2008, averaging 919 fans in 25 dates. LSU also recorded a third straight 30-win season at home. A total of over 160,000 fans during 12 seasons at the Old Tiger Park saw LSU post an impressive 338-51 (.869) home record.
