AUBURN, Ala. — The LSU men’s tennis team pushed its overall victories at the Auburn Spring Classic to eight on Sunday as the tournament wrapped at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
The LSU duo of Ryan Lissner and David Roberts notched their first win of the tournament, as well as their first win as a doubles team, against Auburn’s Milan Krnjetin and Alex Petropoulos in flight three of doubles.
In a close match, Lissner and Roberts edged out Krnjetin and Petropolis by a 9-7 mark.
With Lissner and Roberts highlighting day three in doubles, freshman Mark Bowtell fought to continue a strong singles campaign.
As Bowtell squared off against Auburn’s Lukas Marsoun in flight three, Bowtell earned a first set victory with a 6-4 mark. Marsoun turned the tide in the second set, 6-3. With the match hinging upon the third set, Marsoun overcame Bowtell, 6-4.
Bowtell etched at 2-1 singles record for the tournament.
The Tigers are back in action beginning Jan. 31 against Texas Tech at 9 a.m. CDT in the first day of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend hosted at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
