Dalman Named SEC Diver of the Week

BATON ROUGE — Following a record-setting performance against Delta State Saturday, LSU’s Niko Dalman was named the SEC Male Diver of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Dalman, a fifth-year senior from Auburn, Wash., shattered a 14-year-old school record in the one-meter springboard, tallying 387.75 points to top former Tiger Kevin McMahon’s record score of 368.25 set in 1995. In addition, the two-time All-American emerged as the top scorer in the three-meter competition with a mark of 361.20.

“I’m excited for Niko,” LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer said. “It was his best individual performance on the one-meter to date. It’s been a long time coming, and I’m glad to see some of his hard work materialize in the pool.”

With his record-setting score in the one-meter, Dalman now owns both springboard records at LSU as he broke the school’s three-meter mark at the SEC Championships last season.

Furthermore, his mark in the one-meter is the second-highest total in the conference this season, and Dalman currently ranks in the conference’s top-six in all three disciplines.
