KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The LSU diving teams wrapped up a successful trip to Knoxville, Tenn., Monday as four men’s and women’s athletes took part in the final competition at the Tennessee Diving Invitational, the 10-meter platform.
Senior Niko Dalman led the way for the Tigers, registering his third top-10 performance of the meet. The two-time All-American earned fourth-place out of 22 competitors with a six-dive total of 303.75.
Freshmen Chelsea McCorvey and Matt Vieke each recorded top-15 finishes on the final day of the invite. McCorvey scored a season-high 205.05 points on five dives in the women’s platform to take 13th, and Vieke improved his season-best mark in the men’s event, tallying 221.55 points. Fellow freshman Katie Lybbert notched a mark of 157.40 in her first platform competition of the season.
“We ended very well on the platform today,” LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer said. “Niko captured fourth-place, and Matt, Katie and Chelsea all gained valuable experience today. I’m really happy with how the entire meet went. We competed well, and our spirits are up.”
Florida’s Monica Dodson won the women’s platform competition, while Auburn’s Kelly Marx emerged victorious in the men’s platform.
The LSU diving teams return to action Wednesday in a home dual meet versus Southeastern Conference rival, Kentucky.
