BATON ROUGE — Because of the LSU men’s basketball game on Monday night between LSU and McNeese State, the two LSU basketball coaches radio shows will air back-to-back on Tuesday night, both live from Walk-Ons, just outside the gates of LSU.
The Trent Johnson Show will air Tuesday night for this week only at 7 p.m. and will be followed by the weekly edition of The Van Chancellor Show at 8 p.m. Both shows are presented by Capital One Bank.
The Trent Johnson Show will be an extra special edition that will focus primarily on LSU’s upcoming celebration Jan. 30-31, 2009 of the first men’s basketball game against outside competition 100 years ago that weekend, the reunion plans and the All-Century team announcement. Coach Trent Johnson will make a brief appearance by phone and then turn the show over to host Jim Hawthorne who will interview four former players.
Appearing live on the show will be Collis Temple, Jr., who played in the mid-1970s for the Tigers, Lionel “Tree” Green, who helped lead the Tigers to the first SEC title in 25 years in 1979 and Ricky Blanton, one of the starts of the 1986 NCAA Final Four team. Also, joining the show by phone will be the legendary Bob Pettit whose number is retired at LSU and who led LSU to the 1953 NCAA Final Four going on to an outstanding career in the National Basketball Association.
Following that hour, host Patrick Wright and the coach of the LSU Lady Tigers will take over the stage for their weekly visit about Lady Tiger hoops at 8 p.m.
Phone calls are welcome for both shows.
Also, the LSU Sports Radio Network has announced that because of a special edition of “The Les Miles Show” from Atlanta on Dec. 29, that night’s Trent Johnson Show will be broadcast one hour later at 8 p.m.
